"In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different".. Coco Chanel. I shall live and die by this quote. Be who you want to be, not who someone wants you to be, it honestly is the difference between being happy and not. I aim to blog about fashion and all that surrounds it.

Hand me the fringing, flares and bad ass chic.. This girl is BACK!

For anyone that know's me will know life is good right now. For a multitude of reason's which I shall restrain myself from rambling on about for the next few minutes of writing this.

This is time to continue in a way that I feel is finally right to be back here and writing. I didn't want to be blogging half heartedly and using this as an emotional crutch for the last few months, hence the absence. But life is good......

70s. This is it. I think I have finally found my calling in my fashion life. Like, I literally should have been born 50 years ago to have made optimum use of round two of this proper sassy decade. Okay, that sounds very lusty BUT have you SEEEEN some of whats going on right now?!

The cross over of textures, print and cuts is just - ughhh - to die for. There is literally something to suit everyone with the sort of things you are seeing on the high street at the moment.

Key obsessions:
§ Fringing
§ Flares
§ Lace up knee highs

I'm pretty sure I'll be sharing some of my pieces with you very soon if you haven't already seen bits on my insta! (bpdowdell)

Let's leave the interior decor well alone and not look back that far...

JPG: my second French love affair

It's taken me far too long to get around to doing this post but, once again I'm going to play the 'you will not believe HOW crazy life has been' card... But I'm using it anyway!

About a month ago I went to the Jean Paul Gaultier From sidewalk to catwalk exhibition at the Barbican, it. was. amazing.  Stupidly, I assumed and didn't check in advance about photography, and for once - the one time I didn't have my camera - You could take photos. Typical, I know, so I apologise for the grainy images as all I had was my iphone (even a decent camera wouldn't do it just though to be honest).

Back at school, during my A levels, Gaultier was a main inspiration to my textiles coursework and has always been a designer that I have respected the work of. The 'bad boy' of French Fashion as he's known just fascinates me with the intricate detail, thousands of hours put into one garment and even the risky and fleshy garments. I honestly cant see why you would dislike this breton wearing man! To me, he's the french McQueen..

On the left, I think has to be my favourite look in the whole exhibition. Mohawk Pretty Punk.. Sassy to say the least - I want it!!!

I absolutely adore this image. I cannot explain why, its simple, saucy and just down right perfect.

I could go on and on about what I saw and what I loved and bombard you with image, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't been. I found it truly inspiring and perfect, even my mum thought it was brilliant and she's been dragged along to some weird things that she didn't always appreciate!

Please, I beg you, If you have not yet been, you must go - even if you are not a massive fan of this genius' work, just go. The curation, the technology and the facts are just astounding all together. And take you camera.. just go. Now!!!!

West End Girl

I need sectioning, it's official. Or I need my bank card confiscated, one of the two.  This week I have gone crazy, what with my last ever student loan and grant hitting my bank account and everywhere seeming to be jumping on that with discounts for students, its SO hard to resist.   Or not to resist in my case.

A girl's gotta do what a girls gotta do though and when River Island presents itself with a 20% off opportunity you have to seize life by the horns and frantically buy anything your little heart desires!!

To be fair I have been wanting a proper pair of high-waisted 80s style jeans for ages now. I keep mentally making outfits in my head revolving around them, until now! R.I's 'mom' jeans are da bomb! Sadly, theres no knee rips going on but, give it a few months and I'm sure I'll be reinventing these bad boys. For now, I'm off to the 80's.

Bonjour!!

Bonjour from across the pond!!

I type this to you in my boyfriends new home for a year in the South of France! Toulouse, to be exact.

We arrived on Wednesday to settle Fray in for his new adventure at Airbus and it has been a crazayy few days. However, we've got over the worst bit of having no tea for two days and no fridge so onwards and upwards now.

Finally we got chance to have a touristy moment yesterday afternoon and wondered around, with me of course spending a little, not much changes even when I leave the country clearly. Anyway, what better time to do a little outfit post..

Qui?

Outfit Details:
Sunglasses: Christian Lacroix, in Tk Maxx
Necklace: H&M

Au revoir (for now)!

Silky pants and cloudy skies

After a few weeks of such warm weather, as much as I hate to say it, today was a pleasant break from baking like a beast 24/7 (especially being in work, on a Sunday, while the majority are chillin' at home).

Being a little cooler, it was prime time to road test some new trousers I bought last week. A silky, light weight patterned pyjama pant. Believe it or not... Matalan. £12!  Complete bargain. And after wearing them all day at work, I was shocked that they didn't have one single crease in them! I hate looking like a scruffy, creased rag by the end of the day, so these are a even bigger bonus!

I also don't usually blog beauty related but today I thought I'd just add in my lip option, I wore my pale pink Mac; Pink Nouveau along with my Bare Minerals Buxom beige. Sometimes the mac lipstick feels too pale but today I was a fan!  I do love a layering combo!

Who's loving the weather then? Enjoying the lift or wanting the heat!?

Here's my outfit from today, hope your all well!

Cami Top: Topshop
Necklace: Ebay
Trousers: Matalan

Pencil skirts and boxy tops

I have to say, I'm a very big fan of a pencil skirt and a baggy box top at the moment, It slowly is starting to take over my wardrobe (which I have no problem with), I'm getting a mix from everywhere because everyone is doing some down right gorge stuff! Thank god this summer is going to be fuelled by a job now! Woo

This is a little outfit I wore the other day, I felt like a little kid all day but... I loved it! Defo my summer pieces!  Must go... Got some hunting to do for some more :p

Hocus Pocus

It may be April but today I felt like one of the Witches of Oz today with my new little winkle pickers on!

Bad or good... I'm not sure which but I was also regarded as 'Bad ass Barbie Beth' today... Work on a Saturday seems to make us all a little nutty.

I'm off to see the wizard now,

Originally £65, I paid £27

I've become terrible at blogging :( I am so sorry, life has been too hectic, between interning having several illnesses and writing a essay my brain is rapidly cracking!

So anyway, here's a little ootd post from Saturday as it was another beautiful day before I headed off to work. Im in the mode of reusing and reinventing everything at the moment to change up my looks for work with out costing me a load.. However, hello student finance... Your back <3 Its been a while and I'm sad to say I am thoroughly excited to get my shop on!!
Current list of intention;

- Simple tops to jazz up
(I'm sure they'll be much much more but I have to be sensible)

So here's Saturdays look

Sorry about my face, it was so bright I ended up squinting!

ANTIGEN

It's deadline day again! Woooo, last project of year two. I cannot believe how quickly its gone, but it's here and there's no going back now. Wednesday I start my 2 month placement in the big wide world!

Anyway, our Fashion Narrative Project was based on 'nextism' and whatever we thought qualified for that title in the world of fashion/media. We, as a group, decided to address Androgyny and the ever evolving trend that it is.

I love editing so enjoyed this project.. If you regularly look at my blog, you'll notice this links with my fashion shoot I did a few weeks back. Here's the video, I'd love to hear your opinions! Thank you

Enjoy!!!! It's the ANTIGEN age...
